Privacy policy

For the Second app and philleylabs.com. Effective November 3, 2026.

Second collects no data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking and no third-party code in the app. Your calendar stays on your devices and in your own private iCloud, where Philley Labs can’t see it.

Who we are

Second is made by Philley Labs LLC, a software studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (“Philley Labs,” “we” or “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Second app for iPhone and this website.

What Second collects

Nothing. Second doesn’t send any information about you or how you use it to Philley Labs or to anyone else. Specifically, Second has:

  • no accounts or sign-ups
  • no analytics, usage statistics or crash-reporting services
  • no ads and no advertising identifiers
  • no tracking, inside the app or across other apps and websites
  • no third-party software development kits (SDKs)

Second doesn’t ask for access to your contacts, photos, location, Apple Calendar, Health app or any other data on your phone.

We don’t sell or share personal information, because we don’t have any.

One thing is up to Apple, not Second: if you’ve turned on sharing with app developers in your iPhone’s Analytics & Improvements settings, Apple may give us crash reports and app usage statistics that don’t identify you. You can turn that off in the iPhone Settings app under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements.

Your calendar and iCloud

Everything you put in Second, including your calendars, events, notes and yearlies, is stored on your device. If you’re signed in to iCloud, Second also keeps a copy in your own private iCloud database (Apple’s CloudKit) so it stays in sync across your devices.

That database belongs to your Apple Account. Philley Labs can’t see, open or download what’s in it. Apple stores it under its own terms and the Apple Privacy Policy.

If you’re not signed in to iCloud, your calendar stays only on your device.

Health questions

Second can suggest health yearlies, like checkups and screenings. To tailor them, it can ask a few optional questions: your birth year (just the year), which screenings apply to you, and whether you smoke or used to.

  • You don’t have to answer them, and you can change or clear your answers in Settings at any time.
  • Your answers are used only on your devices, only to suggest yearlies and adjust how often some of them repeat as you get older.
  • Like your calendar, they’re kept on your device and synced through your own private iCloud. Philley Labs never receives them.
  • Backup files you export don’t include them.

Health yearlies are reminders to book with your doctor, not medical advice.

Calendar subscriptions

If you paste a calendar subscription link into Second, the app downloads that calendar directly from the website that hosts the link, and checks it again from time to time for updates. Philley Labs isn’t involved and doesn’t see the link or the calendar.

Like any web request, the website hosting that calendar can see your device’s IP address and that the calendar was requested. Its own privacy policy applies to what it does with that.

Links to websites

Some yearlies include a link to the guideline they’re based on. Tapping a link opens that website in your browser, and that site’s privacy policy applies.

Backups

Second can export a backup file of your calendars and events. You choose where to save it in the Files app, and that might be on your device, in iCloud Drive or with another storage service you use. Philley Labs never receives your backups.

Backup files are plain, readable text, so keep them somewhere you trust. Anyone with the file can read your calendar.

Emailing us

If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you, and we don’t add you to any list or share your message with anyone. Ask us to delete your emails and we will.

This website

philleylabs.com uses no cookies, analytics, ads or trackers, and it doesn’t load anything from other companies. Its fonts are hosted on the site itself.

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver and protect the site, Cloudflare processes standard request information, like your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, as described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Philley Labs doesn’t use that information to identify or track visitors.

Because we don’t track anyone, browser signals like Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control don’t change anything here.

Children’s privacy

Second collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Second isn’t directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Your choices

Because Philley Labs doesn’t hold your data, there’s nothing for us to give you a copy of or delete, other than any emails you’ve sent us. You’re in control of everything else:

  • To remove Second’s data from your iPhone, delete the app.
  • Deleting the app doesn’t delete the copy in your iCloud. To remove that too, go to the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage (or Manage Storage), and choose Second.
  • Delete any backup files you’ve saved in the Files app.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If a change affects what happens to your information, we’ll also say so in the App Store release notes for that version of Second.
